I’m working on selling my Corvair. It really needs paint, the floor of the frunk replaced due to rust, and other small stuff that just takes some time and a little money. But it’s a solid driver and a California car located in Virginia. Does anyone have any tips for finding the right buyer? I’m told that “parking lot+for sale sign=towed fast” around here.

Yeah do not do parking lot + sale sign. That also frequently equals badges and other parts being stolen.
My suggestion would be look into Corvair or Classic Chevy forums.

First: clean the hell out of it. Make it as pretty as you can. Second: good pics and a video of it driving well. Third: post it Everywhere. Fourth: be ready to wait
Don’t lie or hide anything. Emphasize its good points but remember nobody cares about your opinion or emotions on the car just the facts.

I couldn’t be bothered to put my E30 on ebay - or wash it. Put it on a UK E30 forum’s for sale section, some bloke from down the road came and bought it.

BiTurbo228 wants one, I think. Sadly, I don’t think he’s currently able to swing its price and import, shipping, etc. on it.

“So, Father-in-law, do you mind if I borrow your rollback and about three grand?”
Probably wouldn’t work.

Drag it to a local Cars & Coffee with a for sale sign. Katie’s in Alexandria is probably closer to you, but the Richmond Cars & Coffee is probably your better bet here since Katie’s seems to be heavily focused on exotics.
